With nearly 5m page impressions – and 1.2m weekly users – Aertel content is as popular as ever

23rd October 2012, RTÉ Digital; RTÉ Digital today announced the launch of its redesigned RTÉ Aertel Digital service. The popular information service, available in an updated format on www.rte.ie/aertel, and on Saorview and UPC, will be easier to navigate, and  quicker to use. It is also available for mobile users on m.rte.ie/aertel and the original version will remain available to Sky users.

RTÉ’s Aertel service has, according to TGI’s latest report from September 2012,  over 1.2m users on a weekly basis. In addition – close to 5 million page impressions are generated online monthly via www.rte.ie/aertel and m.rte.ie/aertel.

“Over one third of Aertel’s overall users are within the 15-34 age group,” said Tom Grealis, Director of Production and Operations at RTÉ Digital. “With over 300,000 mobile page impressions, mobile usage of RTÉ Aertel is significant.  RTÉ Aertel continues to have an emotive appeal to teletext users who have grown up with the service.  We’ve taken the best of the service and  modernised it on www.rte.ie, while keeping a familiar look and feel that appeals to our traditional users”.

Another reason for RTÉ Aertel’s popularity according to Grealis is a firm focus on providing relevant public information.   According to research by Amarach, the strengths of RTÉ Aertel are that is convenient, quick, easy and consistent, with familiar page numbers for rapid navigation to the information required.  RTÉ Aertel’s wide ranging content, available at the press of a button, spans News, Sport, Business, Entertainment, Weather, Stocks and Shares, TV and Cinema listings, Flight Times, Holidays, Public Information, and Subtitles.

The existing analogue service on RTÉ One and RTÉ Two will cease on the 24th October in tandem with the digital switch over , however RTÉ Aertel will be available on Saorview, online – in a new digital format on www.rte.ie/aertel, and on UPC. For mobile users it is available as usual on m.rte.ie/aertel, and to Sky users in analogue.
