Leaders to gather to discuss opportunities in age of connected consumer in September

Posted on August 22, 2012 by Caroline Stephens

Ireland’s digital leaders will be joined by international speakers to discuss Ireland’s opportunities and challenges in the age of the connected consumer, at a forum hosted by Silicon Republic on 21 September in Dublin.

The keynotes and leaders will take part in mediated panel discussions, before an invited audience of C-suite executives and senior policy makers, on how the demands and needs of this new consumer is transforming how we do business, how we transact, even how governments interact with their citizens. Broadcaster and author Matt Cooper returns as master of ceremonies.

“Irish consumers are increasingly willing to adopt new technologies and digital business models, and that spells big risks and opportunities for almost every business,” said a recent report from KPMG. “What’s exciting for Ireland is that so much of the digital world they use is being developed and managed from Ireland.” This opportunity is one of the themes that will be picked up at the fourth Digital Ireland Forum, which kicks off at 8am in The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin.

Silicon Republic will provide the platform for technology leaders and stakeholders to come together to discuss the risks and opportunities for Ireland as it seeks to be a winner in the race to serve the global connected consumer. Themes discussed will include Content, Finance, The Future of Information, Entertainment and Retail.

Digital communications expert Neville Hobson has been confirmed as one of the keynote speakers on 21 September. Hobson is an opinion leader and influencer in digital communication for business, and is a frequent public and private speaker on digital media trends that matter to organisations. Hobson has been blogging since 2002, and is co-presenter with Shel Holtz of the For Immediate Release podcast series, including the weekly The Hobson & Holtz Report, which started in January 2005. He is a founding senior research fellow and advisory board member of the Society for New Communications Research, a California-based non-profit think tank dedicated to the advanced study of new communications tools, technologies and emerging modes of communication, and their effect on traditional media, professional communications, business, culture and society.

Confirmed panelists include:

  • Jeroen Hoencamp, CEO, Vodafone Ireland
  • Tanya Duncan, CEO, Interxion Ireland
  • Muirne Laffan, managing director, RTÉ Digital
  • Maurice Mortell, MD Ireland, TelecityGroup
  • Colm O’Neill, CEO, BT Ireland
  • Andrew Maybin, network services director, Tibus
