Stars gather for Gately memorial concert

A string of celebrities celebrated the life of Stephen Gately at a memorial concert tonight.

Friends and family of the Boyzone singer joined fans and stars of the showbusiness world at the Palace Theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue, central London.

Gately died of natural causes due to a pulmonary oedema on 10 October st his holiday home on the island of Majorca.

Boyzone band mates Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch looked solemn and did not stop to speak to waiting press as they went into theatre for the private evening of performances.

Gately's partner Andrew Cowles also attended along with the singer's parents, Martin and Margaret, and siblings Michelle, Mark, Alan and Tony.

Among the performers scheduled to pay tribute to Gately are singers Liz McClarnon, Lee Ryan, Chesney Hawkes and Beverley Knight.

The cast of West End show Joseph, in which Gately starred, will also take to the stage.
