EastEnders' Peggy will not be killed off

'EastEnders' character Peggy Mitchell will not be killed off when Barbara Windsor leaves the show, according to reports.

Windsor recently announced that she was planning to leave the show but no details of her exit storyline have yet been announced.

According to The Sun, a source said: "Barbara has such a fondness for Peggy that she genuinely wants to play her again."

"She doesn't want the character killed off. Producers understand that."
