Corrie helping footballers learn English

Manchester City footballer Carlos Tevez has reportedly been improving his English skills thanks to 'Coronation Street'.

The Argentinean footballer, who moved to the UK three years ago, reportedly started watching the soap following encouragement from his team-mates.

It is thought that Manchester City's Brazilian player Robinho also picked up English by watching the Manchester-based drama.

Additionally, footballer Pablo Zabaleta, who is also from Argentina, apparently wants Tevez to eventually stop needing a translator for team talks.

Speaking to Football Punk magazine about 'Coronation Street', Tevez confirmed: "I like it. I don't understand some things because of the language, but it seems very good."

Meanwhile, a source told The Sun: "Carlos finds it difficult learning English. But he's coming on in leaps and bounds now he's watching Corrie, although he doesn't quite get the dialect yet.

"By the end of the season we're hoping he'll be able to do away with the translator."
