Neighbours asked Donovan to return

'Neighbours' bosses have reportedly invited Jason Donovan to join in with the soap's 25th anniversary celebrations next year, the Australian actor revealed.

Donovan, who rose to fame as Scott Robinson in the Aussie soap in the 80s, said work commitments mean he can't attend, but said it was "a shame" he can't make it.

He said: "They have asked me to come back and be part of the celebrations - but I can't, I'm working, which is a shame."

Speaking at a press launch for the new stage production of 'War Of The Worlds', Donovan said that producers have approached him in the past about returning to the soap, but it's not something he's considering.

He said: "They have offered for me to come back, but time has moved on considerably for me since then. I'm very proud of that show. It's launched incredible careers over the years, and given a lot of work to people in the industry in Melbourne and Australia.

"Every day of my life I refer to it at some point and I'm not someone who runs away from that. I'm very proud of that so long may it last."
