Rihanna breaks silence on US talkshow

Pop singer Rihanna has given an interview about the night that her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown assaulted her.

Speaking to Diane Sawyer, in an interview that will be aired on 'Good Morning America' on Thursday and Friday of this week, the singer described Brown as her "first big love".

Referring to the incident, she said: "This happened to me... it can happen to anyone."

Brown was sentenced to five years probation and community service for the assault, which he apologised publicly for.
