Ex Corrie star talks about lesbian role

Ex-Corrie star Tina O'Brien said she's happy to kiss a woman in her new TV role.

The actress, known to millions as Coronation Street's Sarah-Louise Platt (later Grimshaw), will venture into new territory as Miss Brown, the screen love interest of Maxine Peake in a period drama about famous lesbian Anne Lister.

O'Brien, 26, told New! magazine she feels "fine" about the prospect of puckering up to Maxine, adding: "I've not kissed a woman before, so it's something new."

She said her boyfriend Ryan Thomas, who plays Jason Grimshaw in Corrie, thinks Tina's new role is "great".

"He probably thinks it's a bonus it's not a guy I'll be kissing!" she added.

O'Brien is soon to start filming the BBC drama.

Tina said she finds it hard to watch Ryan kissing other women on 'Coronation Street', such as current his current on-screen girlfriend Michelle Keegan.

She explained: "I won't say that I enjoy watching kissing scenes, but I'll turn my head or close my eyes. I don't even like watching my own kissing scenes!"
