Christie Hennessy sculpture to be unveiled
The late singer Christie Hennessy is to be honoured with the unveiling of a life-sized sculpture in his hometown of Tralee this weekend.
The official unveiling of the bronze sculpture, which was executed by Nicholas Dimbleby and commissioned by Tralee Town Council, will be performed by singer Christy Moore on Saturday 31 October.
The Mayor of Tralee Cllr Terry O'Brien said: "It is a fitting tribute to a gifted son of Tralee who loved his town and brought it international acclaim."
The new sculpture will be placed in The Square in Tralee, where Hennessy spent his youth working as a messenger boy, collecting and delivering parcels on his bicycle.
The album 'Christie Hennessy: A Friend of Mine' is due for release on 30 October.
