Irish director wins Emmy Award
The adaptation of Charles Dickens' 'Little Dorrit' was a big winner at last night's Emmy Awards in the US.
According to The Irish Times, Irish director Dearbhla Walsh collected the Best Director in the pre-broadcast part of the event.
The series also collected awards for writer Andrew Davis, art direction, costumes, cinematography and the Best Mini-Series award.
Irish actor Brendan Gleeson picked up the award for Outstanding Lead Actor for his performance as Winston Churchill in 'Into the Storm'. For the full story, click here.
Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism, Martin Cullen said: "Brendan is one of our finest actors and Dearbhla one of our most accomplished directors."
He also said that the two successes show that Irish artistic talent continues to garner a positive response internationally.
