Baron Cohen faces threats over Bruno

Sacha Baron Cohen has been threatened by a militant Palestinian group angered at its portrayal in his latest movie Bruno.

The Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a group of Palestinian militias in the West Bank, were said in a statement issued in Jerusalem to be "very upset" to be mentioned.

The group said they would "reserve the right to respond in the way we find suitable against this man", according to the statement, published on a news website called World Net Daily.

The film ridicules the group and sees Baron Cohen's character, a gay Austrian fashion expert, trying to get kidnapped, saying: "Al Qaeda is so 2001."

The 37-year-old's representatives did not immediately comment on reports that he has stepped up security. A spokesman for the film declined to comment.
