Teen gymnast wins Dancing with the Stars

Seventeen-year-old Olympic gold gymnast Shawn Johnson and her professional dance partner Mark Ballas have won 'Dancing with the Stars'.

Speaking after her win, Johnson said: "This has been the best experience ever. I've grown so much."

Johnson contested the final with French actor Gilles Marini and reality TV star Melissa Rycroft.

Rycroft was the first to be eliminated when the judges' scores and viewers' votes were combined.

Host Tom Bergeron said that "less than 1%" separated Johnson and Marini in the final result.

Head judge Len Goodman said: "This has been, without a doubt, the best season ever. We've got the three best dancers here in the final."

Johnson is the third Olympic gold-winning athlete to become 'Dancing with the Stars' champion: ice skaters Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Anton Ohno were previous winners.

Ballas was Yamaguchi's partner on last year's show.
