Byrne is among the Emmy nominees
Irish star Gabriel Byrne has been nominated in the Best Actor in a Drama Series category for this year's Emmy Awards.
Byrne is nominated for his role as Paul in the HBO series 'In Treatment'.
Also nominated are: Bryan Cranston ('Breaking Bad'), Michael C Hall ('Dexter'), Jon Hamm ('Mad Men'), Hugh Laurie ('House') and James Spader ('Boston Legal').
The nominees for Best Actress in a Drama Series are Glenn Close ('Damages'), Sally Field ('Brothers & Sisters'), Mariska Hargitay ('Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'), Holly Hunter ('Saving Grace') and Kyra Sedgwick ('The Closer').
A number of the stars of 'Grey's Anatomy' are nominated in the acting categories with Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang) nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and Diahann Carroll (Jane Burke) nominated as Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
'Boston Legal', 'Damages', 'Dexter', 'House', 'Lost' and 'Mad Men' are the nominees for Best Drama Series.
The shows nominated for Best Comedy Series are: '30 Rock', 'Curb Your Enthusiasm', 'Entourage', 'The Office' and 'Two and a Half Men'.
Irish costume designers Joan Bergin and Susan O'Connor Cave are nominated for their work on 'The Tudors'.
