Ewan McGregor in cancer scare

Ewan McGregor has revealed that he has recently had a cancerous mole removed from just below his right eye.

The 37-year-old star of 'The Phantom Menace', 'Trainspotting' and 'Cassandra's Dream' said doctors removed several moles on his face after he went for a check-up.

He told the BBC's 'Breakfast' programme: "I went to see a specialist who thought they were better to be removed, and indeed he was correct."

McGregor added that he was aware that he was more at risk of skin cancer because of having pale skin.

He said he was "fine" following the surgery and insisted that the operation was "not that big of a deal".

The star is currently promoting his new film 'Deception', which is released in Ireland this Friday.
