Portman names baby gorilla in Rwanda

Natalie Portman was at a Rwandan wildlife park on Saturday to name one of 23 baby mountain gorillas.

The 'Star Wars' actress was there to publicise efforts to conserve the highly endangered species.

She chose the name 'Ahazaza' (future) for her baby gorilla.

One of the gorillas was named 'Ingufu' (strength) in honour of late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, killed last September by a stingray while filming a documentary in the Great Barrier Reef.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rwandan President Paul Kagame called for strict measures to ensure the protection of mountain gorillas.

Portman is currently appearing on Irish cinema screens in 'Paris, Je T'Aime'.
