Michael admits drug-driving charge

George Michael has admitted driving while unfit through drugs on the first day of his trial at a London court.

Michael, 43, from north London, was arrested in Cricklewood last year after motorists reported a car obstructing the road at traffic lights.

Appearing confused during the hearing at Brent Magistrates' Court in north London, Michael, real name George Panayiotou, said he was guilty because of "tiredness and prescribed drugs".

Prosecutors dropped a further charge of being in charge of a vehicle while unfit through drugs.

The singer is due to start a British and European tour later this month.
