Farrow criticises Spielberg over Olympics

American actress Mia Farrow has strongly criticised director Steven Spielberg and four corporate sponsors for aiding China's staging of the Olympic Games in 2008.

In an article in the Wall Street Journal, she accused China of "bankrolling Darfur's genocide"; China supplies arms to Sudan as well as having oil investments in the country.

Spielberg is on the production team for the Games opening ceremony next August, while McDonald's, Coca-Cola, General Electric and Johnson & Johnson are four of the sponsors of the International Olympic Committee.

Farrow, a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, wrote "That so many corporate sponsors want the world to look away from that atrocity during the Games is bad enough."

"But equally disappointing is the decision of artists like director Steven Spielberg...to sanitise Beijing's image."
