Michael Hutchence's brother defends auction

Rhett Hutchence, the brother of INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, has defended his online auction of the late star's belongings.

He told the Daily Telegraph in Sydney that he was auctioning off some "unimportant" items so that he can raise money to move to the Netherlands with his new girlfriend.

"I assure you all the really important things I'm keeping. I will be passing on a lot of these things to [Michael's daughter] Tiger when she's old enough," he said.

Their mother, Patricia Glassop, has criticised Hutchence for the auction of sketches, lyrics and T-shirts.

She reportedly disowned her son for selling a personal fax between Michael and his former girlfriend Kylie Minogue for AUS$400.

Rhett Hutchence told the newspaper that there was "nothing untoward" about the fax and that said that he was surprised at his mother's reaction.
