Avril Lavigne has announced details of her third album, 'The Best Dam Thing', which is due out in April.

Billboard reports that writing on her MySpace site, Lavigne said: "I promise you guys will love this record - it is my favourite one."

Describing the album, the singer said: "It is really fast, fun, young, bratty, aggressive, confident [and] cocky in a playful way... all the good stuff."
