Cré na Cille comes to Dublin stage
Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe's production of Máirtín Ó Cadhain's debut novel 'Cré na Cille' is to open at the axis arts centre in Ballymun later this month.
Adapted for the stage by Macdara Ó Fátharta, 'Cré na Cille' was criticised when published for offering a different perspective on Gaeltacht life.
It is considered by many to be the greatest novel written in Irish.
Directed by Darach Mac Con Iomaire, the play stars Bríd Ní Neachtain, Macdara Ó Fátharta, Joe Steve Ó Neachtain, Peadar Lamb, Máire Uí Dhroighneáin, Tom Sailí Ó Flaithearta, Máire Ní Ghráinne, Tomás Ó Mainín and Darach Ó Dubháin.
Bríd Ní Neachtain was nominated for an Irish Times Theatre Award for her performance in the play in 2002.
'Cré na Cille' runs at the axis arts centre from 31 October to 4 November, with tickets priced ¤20 and ¤15 and more information available on 01 8832100.
