Beck album ineligible for UK chart

It has been announced that Beck's new album 'The Information' has been deemed ineligible for the UK album chart.

Billboard reports that the Official Chart Company in Britain said that the album's cover art and packaging gave it an "unfair advantage" over other releases.

'The Information's elaborate packaging features four random sticker sets which have been personally chosen by Beck and which allow fans to design their own album cover.

Commenting on the Official Chart Company's decision, Beck said: "It's an unconventional package, but it shouldn't be penalised for that. Any art on a CD is an incentive to buy and listen. Ultimately, it doesn't matter. The response from the fans has been so strong, and that is the most important thing."
