Bono introduces Damien Rice in New York

Bono introduced Damien Rice at a special two-song set by the singer-songwriter in New York's Hudson Hotel on Friday.

NME.com reports that the singers were in the city to promote the ONE, make poverty history campaign, and the Edun clothing line owned by Bono, his wife Ali Hewson and designer Rogan Gregory.

Introducing Rice, Bono said: "What you're about to hear and see is like being at a Bob Dylan gig in the early Sixties or a Cat Stevens gig in the early Seventies or James Taylor, or something extraordinary."

He continued: "Damien Rice is able to still and distil the storms into quiet reflection. He's really a remarkable talent, I can't quite believe that he's here. I'm very humbled and very honoured and I would ask New York to give him the kind of welcome only New York, only Manhattan can, and then give him the silence he deserves because this is something very special."

Rice, repeatedly demanded silence from the audience; among the stars who watched his performance were models Helena Christensen and Christy Turlington and actors Heather Graham and Ed Burns.

Some say that there are no endings, only beginnings - hopefully Jones can hear that in this album too.

Norah Jones - The Fall

Rating 4

'The Fall' proves the theory that out of the bad can come the good, or in this case the great - it's the best album Jones has made.

The biggest problem here is that the quartet don't play to their strengths enough.

Bon Jovi - The Circle

Rating 3

There's life in Bon Jovi yet; bringing the story full circle could give them their best songs in a long time.

Her range as a singer is excellent

Leona Lewis - Echo

Rating 3

A more accomplished and confident record than her debut, 'Echo', however, tells you very little about Lewis style-wise that you didn't know from 2007 already.
