Pete crowned Big Brother 7 champion

Pete Bennett tonight won the seventh series of Big Brother.

The 24-year-old rock singer from Brighton beat teenage Welsh lifeguard and school head boy Glyn Wise to walk away with the £100,000 prize.

Pete won over the public's affections from the beginning and remained hot favourite to win throughout the 13-week competition.

He jumped around the room swearing and shouting after host Davina McCall announced the result.

Earlier tonight, six housemates waited for the results to be announced.

18-year-old Jennie was first to be evicted. She left to a chorus of cheers and told host Davina McCall she hoped Glyn would be the ultimate winner.

Nikik, wannabe footballer's wife, looked stunned following her eviction and Davina McCall was forced to abandon a live interview with her when she appeared unable to talk.

Canadian waiter Richard was the next to be evicted. The 33-year-old jumped up and down and waved as he left to loud cheering from the crowd.

Pete, Aisleyne and Glyn where then left to battle it out to be crowned the winner of Big Brother 7. Aisleyne finished third in the show.

During a live interview with Davina, runner-up Glyn said his time in the house had changed his view of the world outside Wales.

Pete walks away with £100,000 prize money.
