Micheál Ó Súilleabháin on tour - RealAudio
Composer and pianist Micheál Ó Súilleabháin is about to embark on a concert tour with a difference. He is going to visit eight Office of Public Works properties around the country this summer as part of a public programme of events entitled 'Family Connections: Irish Heritage Properties and their Families'. Each concert will draw on material collected by the Irish Traditional Music Archive. Family Connections by the Office of Public Works runs from 20 July to 23 September. Singer-songwriter Spencer Bohren, a native of Wyoming in the USA, was raised in a highly musical family. He eventually made his musical home in New Orleans and his new album, 'The Long Black Line' was inspired by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Micheál Ó Domhnaill tribute - RealAudio
One of Ireland's most gifted traditional musicians, Mícheál Ó Domhnaill, died unexpectedly over the weekend. Ó Domhnaill was a founder member of the folk group Skara Brae, later going on to join the Bothy Band and he was also a presenter of RTÉ Radio 1's 'The Long Note'. In 2004 on a 'Rattlebag' special looking back at 50 years of Gael Linn, Mícheál was in studio to talk about the early days of Skara Brae and its influences.
