Toy giant shelves Pussycat 'Dolls'

Plans to release a range of dolls based on chart-topping group the Pussycat Dolls have been scrapped.

Billboard reports that toy giant Hasbro decided the dolls were "inappropriate" and that Pussycat Dolls and their record label Interscope were aiming for a more mature audience.

The US advocacy group Dads & Daughters had campaigned against the planned dolls.

In a statement, Hasbro said: "Interscope's current creative direction and images for the recording group are focused on a much older target than we had anticipated at the time of our original discussions, thereby making a doll line inappropriate for Hasbro."

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

Rating 4

As is the nature with albums as diverse as this in style and contributors, 'Plastic Beach' can be patchy in parts, but the sheer versatility and depth of this sprawling work are its saviours.

Beautifully recorded without taking the grit out of the songs

James Vincent McMorrow - Early in the Morning

Whether warming or giving the chills, McMorrow sounds like someone to stick with for the long haul.
