Cash's last songs released in July
The final songs recorded by Johnny Cash before his death in September 2003 are to be released in July.
Billboard reports that the album 'American V: A Hundred Highways' is due for release on 4 July and features 'Like the 309', the last song Cash wrote.
Commenting on the album, Cash's producer, Rick Rubin, said: "These songs are Johnny's final statement. They are the truest reflection of the music that was central to his life at the time. This is the music that Johnny wanted us to hear."
'Like the 309' is one of two original songs on the album; the other, 'I Came to Believe', was written and recorded earlier in Cash's career.
Among the songs covered by Cash on the album are Bruce Springsteen's 'Further On (Up the Road)' and Gordon Lightfoot's 'If You Could Read My Mind'.
Rubin added: "I think that 'American V' may be my favourite of all of the albums in the 'American' series. It's different from the others, it has a much different character. I think that this is as strong an album as Johnny ever made."
