Roberts makes New York stage debut

Julia Roberts made her debut on the New York stage on Tuesday night in the Richard Greenberg play 'Three Days of Rain'.

The play, which also stars Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper, tells the story of a brother and sister who meet a childhood friend for the reading of a will.

In the second act of the play Roberts plays her character's mother - the action taking place a generation earlier.

During the second act of Tuesday night's preview a plastic tomato prop fell on the stage accidentally, leading Roberts to momentarily break character and smile.

The play's 12-week run on Broadway is almost entirely sold out, with some tickets listed on eBay for $999.
