Pitt is to produce new sci-fi film

Brad Pitt is to produce, and could possibly star in, a new sci-fi film called 'The Sparrow'.

Variety reports that movie giant Warner Bros acquired the rights to the Mary Doria Russell book of the same name for Pitt to co-produce through his company, Plan B.

'The Sparrow' tells the story of a Jesuit priest who accompanies a space expedition to a distant planet from where aliens have communicated with Earth.

They befriend one of the planet's two races, which leads to a war and the priest questioning his faith.
