Barton set for Attenborough's film

The 'OC's Mischa Barton is to star opposite Shirley MacLaine in 'Closing the Ring', the new film from legendary director Richard Attenborough.

Production Weekly says that the romantic drama is set in Belfast and North Carolina during two time periods: 1943 and 1993.

The story begins when a US bomber crashes near Belfast in 1943; a dying crewmember asks a local to return his ring to his girlfriend in the US.

50 years later a young man finds the ring, learns about its history and finds the girlfriend.

Production on the film, due to begin in May, will take place at the new Titanic Studios in Belfast and in Toronto.
