Roberts eyeing her next movie role

Julia Roberts is in early talks to star opposite Tom Hanks in the political drama 'Charlie Wilson's War'.

Variety reports that the film would reunite Roberts with director Mike Nichols, whom she previously worked with on 'Closer'.

The film would be Roberts' first onscreen role since 'Ocean's Twelve'.

Based on the book by George Crile and with a script written by 'The West Wing' creator Aaron Sorkin, 'Charlie Wilson's War' tells the true story of a US congressman who survived personal scandal to oversee the covert funding of Mujahideen fighters in Afghanistan in their war against Russia.

Roberts is in talks to play a Texas socialite who influenced the senator to support the Mujahideen.

The film is due to go into production later this year.
