DiCaprio eyes Hemingway adaptation

Leonardo DiCaprio is in talks to star in a new film version of Ernest Hemingway's 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'.

Variety reports that DiCaprio wants to play the lead role of Robert Jordan in the film, but will not commit to the project without a director, and none is currently attached.

'25th Hour' writer David Benioff is penning the script for the film.

'For Whom the Bell Tolls' was also made into a film in 1944, starring Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman.
