Comedian Vic Reeves gets driving ban

Comedian Vic Reeves has been banned from driving for 32 months after admitting to leaving the scene of an accident.

Reeves, real name Jim Moir, appeared at Maidstone Magistrates this morning, where he pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a collision. The 46-year-old comedian had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of drink-driving.

Reeves crashed his vintage Jaguar into a stationary Peugeot 106, while driving to a pub to buy cigarettes. The comedian, who was three times over the legal alcohol limit on the night of the accident, claimed that he didn't notice that he had hit the car, in which one of his neighbours was sitting.

Since admitting to the drink-driving charge at a court appearance on 7 April, he has been subject to an interim driving ban.

Reeves was also sentenced to 100 hours community punishment. His 32-month driving ban will be reduced to two years if he completes a drink-driving rehabilitation course.
