Actor Phoenix checks into rehab clinic
It has been announced that actor Joaquin Phoenix, star of 'The Village', has checked into a rehabilitation facility for treatment of alcoholism.
"He was uncomfortable with the way that he was living his life and found the courage to deal with the disease," said a statement from Phoenix's publicist Susan Patricola.
The actor, whose brother River died of a drug overdose in 1993, checked himself into rehab two weeks ago, it was revealed.
Phoenix's acting credits include 'Gladiator', 'Signs' and 'Inventing the Abbotts'. He will next be seen in the lead role in the Johnny Cash biopic 'Walking the Line', due for release later this year.
