U2 world tour begins in California

U2's 'Vertigo//2005' world tour began last night at the San Diego Sports Arena in California.

With new track 'City of Blinding Lights' opening the show, the band's set spanned the decades and included early songs like 'Cry/Electric Co', 'An Cat Dubh' and 'Into the Heart'.

Among the crowd favourites played were 'Vertigo', 'Beautiful Day', 'New Year's Day', 'Sunday Bloody Sunday', 'The Fly', 'Pride in the Name of Love', 'Where the Streets Have No Name' and 'One'.

The band will play another show in San Diego tomorrow night before continuing their tour of the US.
