Corrie's Ken and Deirdre to wed in April

'Coronation Street' characters Ken and Deirdre are to marry each other for the second time in April.

The couple originally married in 1981 and will remarry on 8 April.

Ken (William Roache) proposed to Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) on last Wednesday's episode, after they had been living together for some time.

After initial misgivings about the marriage, Deirdre finally agreed to marry Ken in the Valentine's Day episode of the soap.

'Coronation Street' bosses had planned the big day a few months ago, but kept the date a secret.

The event will feature in a one-hour special of the ITV soap.
