Jackson confirms Lovely Bones film

Director Peter Jackson has confirmed that he will direct and co-produce an adaptation of Alice Sebold's novel 'The Lovely Bones' after he completes his remake of 'King Kong'.

Jackson and his partner Fran Walsh have optioned the film rights to the book from UK production company FilmFour, which will serve as the couple's partner in the development of the project.

Jackson and Walsh will also be joined by their 'Lord of the Rings' co-screenwriter Philippa Boyens to adapt the script for the film.

'The Lovely Bones', Sebold's first novel, is narrated from heaven by a young girl who has been murdered. It was a best seller in 2002.

The movie adaptation is set for a 2007 release while 'King Kong' is due to be released this December.
