Shrek 3 not in cinemas before 2007

The third movie adventure of animated hero Shrek has been postponed, and will now reach cinema screens in May 2007.

The Hollywood Reporter says that 'Shrek 3' had been pencilled in by studio DreamWorks for a November 2006 release.

On Tuesday, DreamWorks' rivals, Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation, announced that their film 'Cars' was moving from a November 2005 to May 2006 release.

The rivals hope that summer releases for the two films will lead to a greater box office take.

The first two 'Shrek' movies were also released in May.
