The Who to record first album in 23 years

The Who seem set to record an album of new material for release next year. It will be the band's first release in 23 years.

Songwriter and guitarist Pete Townshend has suggested that the surviving members would reunite to record a new album, according to a report on nme.com.

Townshend is rumoured to be collaborating with Roger Daltrey, the other surviving member of the band, in order to work on some new tracks for the album. Townshend has also hinted that the band will tour with their new material.

Other band members Keith Moon and John Entwistle died in 1978 and 2002, respectively.

The band's last album was 'It's Hard', released in 1982.
