Love to stand trial for alleged assault

Courtney Love has been ordered to stand trial in Los Angeles on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

This charge arose from an incident at Love's ex-boyfriend James Barber's house in April when the singer and actress allegedly struck Kristin King with a several items.

Love was in court yesterday to listen to testimony from King and a neighbour of Barber's who had witnessed part of the alleged attack.

Superior Court Commissioner Sanjay Kumar ruled there was enough evidence presented to back up the charge.

"There is uncontroverted evidence that without provocation the defendant threw a bottle at the victim and chased her with a flashlight," he said.

The trial date has been set for next month. Love is currently free on bail.
