Duffy donates libel award to charity

Coronation Street star and former Boyzone singer Keith Duffy has waved his right to a libel award worth more than ¤35,000, donating it instead to an autism charity which he helped set up.

Mr Duffy, whose daughter is autistic, was awarded the money in an out of court settlement over an allegation in the British Daily Mirror that he was involved in a drink fuelled row with two other Coronation Street actors at Belfast's Europa Hotel.

The paper has agreed to Mr Duffy's request to pay a substantial sum to the charity SPEAC (Special Provision for the Education of Autistic Children) and also that an apology appear in Saturday's paper.

Some brilliant moments but sadly, for a film about losing one's virginity, it doesn't go all the way.
