Woo, Yun-Fat team up for Red Cliff

Hong Kong director John Woo will team up with Cantonese actor Chow Yun-Fat for his first Chinese-language film in more than ten years.

This will be the first time that Woo and Yun-Fat have worked together since the 1992 classic film 'Hard-Boiled'.

'The War of the Red Cliff' is a vast historical epic based on events that took place in China 1,700 years ago.

Production is due to start in 2006 and the film, taken from a chapter in the 600-years-old novel 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms', will cost an estimated $36m.

Woo's most recent film was the Ben Affleck-starring 'Paycheck' while Yun-Fat recently appeared on Irish screens in 'The Bulletproof Monk'.
