Waits, Hynde for Blind Boys album

Tom Waits and Chrissie Hynde are among the artists that will appear on The Blind Boys of Alabama's first ever Christmas album.

'Go Tell It On The Mountain' will be released by Real World Records on 16 September.

The Grammy Award-winning gospel singers will also be joined on the album by Aaron Neville, Shelby Lynne, Solomon Burke, Me'shell N'degeocello, Mavis Staples, George Clinton, Richard Thompson and Michael Franti.

The band consists of John Medeski, Duke Robillard, Danny Thompson and Michael Jerome, with additional guest appearances by Robert Randolph.

The Blind Boys of Alabama will bring their Christmas album to Dublin when they play Vicar Street on Saturday 22 November.
