Joyce book sells for over ¤152,000

A first edition presentation copy of James Joyce's 'Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man' has sold at Sotheby's in London for over ¤152,000.

The figure is around twice its estimated value.

The copy of the book, which was long thought to have been lost, contains an inscription by Joyce in March 1917 to the poet Ezra Pound.

Pound, who was Joyce's mentor, publicist and unofficial agent, was largely responsible for getting the work published and he was to remain an important influence on Joyce.

The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern

Rating 2

The book is repetitive and slow initially. However, some may enjoy the story-telling, which is strong at times. I'm left wondering if this was hastily thrown together for the Christmas market.
