Movie treatment for Outkast albums

The upcoming solo records from Outkast's Dre and Big Boi are to be adapted for a new movie musical.

Dre and Big Boi's albums, 'Speaker Boxx' and 'The Love Below', will be joint released as a double-CD set in August with the songs forming the basis of the new movie for cable channel HBO.

The as-yet-untitled film will star the US rappers and will be directed by Bryan Barber who worked with them on their 'The Whole World' and 'Land of a Million Drums' videos.

The story is described as being in the vein of 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' and focuses on a love triangle.
