Andrea Corr lands Irish movie role

Irish singer Andrea Corr is set to take on her first lead movie role, in a film called 'The Great Ceili War'.

The musical comedy tells the tale of two fiddle-playing brothers who meet up for the first time in 25 years as arch rivals in the finals of an all-Ireland Ceili band competition.

Andrea will play folk violinist Anne, who comes face-to-face with her father who abandoned her family when she was a child.

Jim Broadbent, Colm Meaney and Patrick Bergin are also set to star in the film, which will be shot in Northern Ireland, Dublin, in a studio in Germany and on the Isle of Man.

Andrea, who is the lead singer with The Corrs, has had minor film roles in the past in Alan Parker's 1991 Irish fim 'The Commitments' and 1996's 'Evita'.

'The Great Ceili War' is set for release next spring, around the same time as Andrea's sister Caroline's baby is due.
