Charlatans return to their roots

The Charlatans are to play a gig at one of their old haunts in Manchester.

The Manchester Debating Hall is one of the venues they played on a tour when they released their debut single 12 years ago. It fits just 500 fans.

The Charlatans, who are more likely to be found playing arena crowds, are lined up as one of the headliners at Glastonbury Festival later this month.

The band, who have had three chart topping albums, released a new album, 'Wonderland', last year. It was followed recently by a collection of B sides called 'Songs From the Other Side'.
