Tolkien estate puts block on author

A writer's move to put JRR Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy into chronological order has been blocked by the late author's estate.

A temporary ban has been put on Michael W Perry's plan to print a 'Lord of the Rings' diary, pending the outcome of a copyright-infringement lawsuit filed on behalf of the Tolkien estate.

Perry, a one-man publishing house, claims his short work is a guide that "amounts to a retelling of The Lord of the Rings in a different form".
