Cork show invited to US Absurdist Festival

An Irish production of Eugene Ionesco's 'The Bald Prima Donna' has been invited to the San Francisco Absurdist Festival this February.

Cork based Asylum Theatre Company will be the first ever Irish company to play the festival.

Starring Donal Gallagher and Geraldine O'Grady, the production was first shown in the summer of 1999 at the Granary Theatre in Cork.

The show was revived in 2001 and played a 75-date tour of Ireland and Edinburgh before returning to the Cork Fringe Festival that year.

It will now run at the San Francisco Absurdist Festival from 20 February to 2 March. The show has also been invited to the 15th Theaterszene Europa in Köln in March.
