Strokes cancel Birmingham gig

The Strokes have cancelled tonight's Birmingham Academy gig, despite having called on the services of a replacement drummer for Fabrizio Morretti, who broke his hand last week after falling out of the band's tour bus.

The band had to cancel their Liverpool and Sheffield shows after Morretti fell out of the tourbus and broke his hand in Glasgow. He played last Thursday's Manchester gig but an X-Ray taken afterwards revealed a fracture. The band also played in Dublin last Saturday week.

Their Colchester gig on 27 June and a London gig the following night are expected to go ahead.

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

Rating 4

As is the nature with albums as diverse as this in style and contributors, 'Plastic Beach' can be patchy in parts, but the sheer versatility and depth of this sprawling work are its saviours.

Beautifully recorded without taking the grit out of the songs

James Vincent McMorrow - Early in the Morning

Whether warming or giving the chills, McMorrow sounds like someone to stick with for the long haul.

A cool summer soundtrack

Two Door Cinema Club - Tourist History

Once word of mouth gets around membership will swell and the Bangor lads will have to think about moving things to a much bigger venue.
