Arts Council brings writers and critics to Ireland

The Arts Council has announced details of 'Critical Voices', a major new programme aimed at bringing internationally renowned critics and writers to Ireland.

Those taking part include former Turner prize judge Fumio Nanjo; writers Bernhard Schlink and Jostein Gaarder; Godfrey Cheshire, the renowned film editor and senior film critic for the New York Press; Peter Sellers, Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival of the Arts, 2002; Peter Plagens, Chief Visual Arts Critic, Newsweek; and Daniel Liebeskind, the architect who designed Berlin's Jewish Museum.

The six month programme is aimed at enlarging the critical framework for the arts and culture in Ireland, in the context of public debate about fifty years of arts legislation and the 50th anniversary of the Arts Council.
